McLain Signs with Norskies for Second Junior Season
Thief River Falls, MN | The Thief River Falls Norskies of the Superior International Junior Hockey League welcome veteran junior forward Trevor McLain. Trevor is a 6”0” 175 lbs forward from Celina, Texas. This past season he split time between the Wichita Junior Thunder and the Dallas Snipers hockey club in the Western States Junior Hockey League.
Norskies head scout Michael Hughes saw McLain at the CCM Showcase in Denver in May and felt that his game would fit in well with the SIJHL.
“Trevor plays the area game and sees the ice really well, very calm under pressure,” stated Hughes. “I felt that his play earned him a shot at a spot with the Norskies.”
Coming to the prospects camp in Thief River Falls last weekend Trevor impressed the coaches and general manager.
“Trevor has impressed us with the time seeing him on the ice, he is tougher than a Texas rattlesnake and can’t wait to watch him play this season in the Superior International Junior Hockey League,” remarked general manager Kevin McCallum. “This kid is a junior hockey player and has poise on the ice.”
McLain completed his high school career with McKinney, Texas and then moved onto the Western States League for 2016-2017. In 38 games McLain scored 9 points in his rookie campaign.
“I think Trevor will help us with some grit and depth on the front line,” said head coach Cole Workman.
The Norskies will hold their mini-camp August 12-13th in Maple Grove, MN – details will be on the website and social media in the next day or so.
